Next Session of the PG Diploma in Psychological Counselling & Behaviour Management of WB State University and conducted by will start in July, 2015. This is a well established course with well known Psychologists, Psychiatrists and Mental Health Profeesionals well known in their field. DANA has been conducting Counselling courses for last 7 years. The classes are held on Sundays and this one-year course gives excellent exposure to mental health problems and various counselling techniques with first-hand experience of handling clients with mental health problems. DANA completes 15 glorious years!

DANA completes 15 years on 10th February, 2015 and during this period the professionals attached to DANA served more than 10 thousand persons and their families suffering from various mental health problems. In order to promote mental health awareness, DANA has published more than 10 popular books/ booklets on mental health disorders afflicting various age-groups. It has also organised public seminar/ debate/ interactive programmes on common social and mental health issues every year. Thousands of participated in DANA’s programmes in and outside Kolkata.

To commemorate 15th anniversary, DANA is planning to organise a brainstorming session on “Priorities in Management of Mental Sunday, the 15th February, 2015 at Dr Tultul Ghose’s house at Sonarpur. The members of DANA are expected to attend and participate in this programme.

The 3rd annual seminar on Art Therapy was held at Hotel Golden Park on 2nd November 2014. The session started with an introductory talk by Dr.Amal Kumar Mullick followed by a short talk by Dr.Amit Chakraborty on the work being done at DANA The first presentation was on the cases and picture analysis of 2 patients from Paripurnata halfway home titled. The next was a presentation by Dr. Sayandip Ghosh, Mr.Hareet Basu and Mrs. Subhra Banerjee Pal on the case study of 4 patients at DANA titled Psychotherapy beyond talking. There were 2 sessions, one by Ms.Trina Lahiri on working with cancer patients through Art Therapy and one session by Ms. Fahmida Manju Majid on Art Therapy through story telling. The post lunch session was an interactive session where the discussion was on treatment through non-drug therapy. Dr.Tultul Ghosh talked on psychoanalysis, Dr.Pritha Mukherjee discussed cognitive behavior therapy and Professor Amita Dutta talked on Dance therapy. Dr. Amit Chakraborty was the moderator. The discussion was followed by an interactive session and a vote of thanks.

World Mental Health Day, 2014

World Mental Health Day is observed on 10 October every year, with the overall objective of raising awareness of mental health issues around the world and mobilizing efforts in support of mental health.

The Day provides an opportunity for all stakeholders working on mental health issues to talk about their work, and what more needs to be done to make mental health care a reality for people worldwide.

The theme for 2014 is “Living with schizophrenia”. The focus of the World Health Organization will be living a healthy life with schizophrenia.

DANA will organize an interactive programme on “Living with Schizophrenia” on Friday, the 10th October, 2014 at 5 pm at its own premises. Interested members, clients, students and professionals may kindly attend.
